reveiws for Lingerie Addict

Well, I can't complain about the reviews for Confessions of a Lingerie Addict. I saw this one from Booklist:

"Ashley brilliantly blends a generous bit of chick-lit sass with a dash of contemporary romance...in a tale that is surprisingly thoughtful, often quite sexy, and always entertaining."

I was a bit worried they hadn't reviewed it, because Booklist only prints a review if they think it's worthy. :-) They don't waste paper on books they didn't like. So whew.

Fresh Fiction (which used to be Old Book Barn Gazette) says: "CONFESSIONS OF A LINGERIE ADDICT is on the surface one of those funny romance books that are so popular these days. But it has an element of life truth running through it, too, that raises it out of the realm of fluff. ... I love Ms. Ashley’s writing style and her sense of fun that shows through in every page. Great job and a good read!" --Morgan Chilson, Fresh Fiction

Very nice. AAR also gave it a B+. Check it out at http://www.likesbooks.com/cgi-bin/bookReview.pl?BookReviewId=2382

Other sites have also been good: Romance Junkies gave it a 5 ribbon review; Romance Reader at Heart a four rose review (although the reviewer thought Brenda has "loose" morals. I laughed.). More are out there. Reader reviews at Amazon are favorable (so far), too.

That's the review report!

New Mystery site

Well, my Ashley Gardner site is history, so there will be a new site. Nothing's up there yet, so go to the new Ashley Gardner blog at

www.ashleygardner.blogspot.com

I have all the info, lists of books, etc. Email for Ashley Gardner is ashleygardner@cox.net

Or look at www.jennifersromances.com, both "Forthcoming" and "Current Releases". Have everything about the mysteries listed there.

I seem to be in ISP hell lately, don't I? (LOL).

mystery site down

For some reason, I lost my site for my Ashley Gardner mysteries. Sigh. I'm working like a maniac to solve the problem, like I have so much time to do this!! Argh.

So, if you have any questions on the mystery series or wonder when the next is out or whatever, feel free to email me at

ashleygardner@cox.net or jenniferashley@cox.net

Just didn't need this right now. Poor Captain Lacey.

email down

My email is down at my ISP. Apparently, it's affecting three states, and this has been going on since last week. I can get email intermittently, but not always.

So, if you've emailed me, and I haven't answered, this is why. Please accept my apologies; I will respond whenever we get back up. Thanks to everyone who has emailed about either Lingerie Addict or Sudbury School Murders. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the books!

Best,

first Henry VIII book

The first book in Berkley's Six Wives of Henry VIII series is available at Amazon. Click here

Title is THE SPANISH BRIDE, and it's about (naturally) Catherine of Aragon.

I'm sorry they don't have the cover, because it's very nice. Beautiful greens and reds and a nice write up.

Looks like the Anne Boleyn book has a pub date of March 2006. I'll post when it shows up at Amazon. Jane Seymour will follow I believe in July (2006).

I am going into full crunch-to-get-books-done mode. I'm at the point where everything's in place, I just need to finish. So there goes the housework :-)

Have a good weekend!

weekend fun

Some people already know I like to make miniatures. This weekend I was struck with some things I found around my workroom and put them together.

More can be seen at

This will go in my guest bathroom.

writing with a view

I got so distracted with real life this week that I could not write a word. Family demands, friends in need, the RWA mess, my birthday, e-mails, phone calls, promo needs, looming deadlines--argh!!!

I remembered that when Sherrilyn Kenyon spoke to our RWA chapter, she said hotel rooms were wonderful low-distraction places in which to write. I decided to try it. I told my husband I was going away for a night and why, and he was all for it (probably because I was getting cranky).

I'm lucky in that I live in a resort town, and in the off-season (which is now) resorts offer smoking deals to locals who like to live here year-round. So my husband made a reservation for me at a lovely four-diamond, small luxury resort in the desert hills and off I went.

Good choice! It was quiet and beautiful, and because I deliberately never configured the Internet on my laptop and I rarely watch TV, distractions were null. I sat at a window overlooking the beautiful mountains, played CDs, ordered room service, and wrote and wrote and wrote.

View from my bedroom window.

Even better, my husband came out late in the evening, and we had a nice romantic dinner together. He had to get up early and go back to work, which gave me another chunk of writing time before I was ready to go home.

One night was enough. I got a ton of writing done, I unwound, and perhaps saved my marriage (g). I highly recommend this form of writing therapy.

back in town

Back from a fabulous vacation in San Diego. Stayed at a cushy hotel in La Jolla, strolled Scripps Park and beaches, sat in a coffee house and looked out over the cove. Weather was wonderful--70 degrees and overcast (to someone from the baking desert, that's wonderful). Not really good for sailing, but great for parking myself on a chair and breathing in.

Back to work now, but so many distractions. Came home to find the copy-edits of Body in Berkley Square on my doorstep, due right away, so had to drop everything and do that. Then of course it's release month for both Sudbury School Murders and Confessions of a Lingerie Addict.

I need to finish up A Covent Garden Mystery and Penelope and Prince Charming. Now there's this RWA graphical standards hullabaloo. I am sensing a schism in the making--kind of like the Episcopal church over the 1928 Book of Common Prayer. We'll see what happens.

Then of course I have a personal life (a life? what's that?). So with all this madness, I'm trying to find a peaceful place inside me to resume writing.

To write, you not only need time, you need inner quiet, energy, and concentration. You might have all the time in the world, but if you don't have that quiet focus, you can't do anything.

So, shutting down Internet, going off to find a quiet place, and immersing myself in the worlds I've created.

(My neighbors are building a pool, so don't know how quiet it will be around here!)

Take care,

Happy birthday to MEEEEEEEEEE!!!

How old am I? Old enough to know better, but still young enough to enjoy it (hee hee).

It's also release day for Confessions of a Lingerie Addict!

Hope you enjoy, while I enjoy some sweet time with my sweetie.
