thanks and other post

I was thrilled to see that the Just One Sip anthology stayed on the USA Today top 150 for two weeks and continues to do well on Bookscan. Thanks to all who have supported the book. I've gotten some nice emails about my story in it, thank you!

I wrote a post yesterday about finishing a manuscript and what it felt like, but blogger wouldn't cooperate so I had to put it on my Allyson James blog

Now to start another book! :-)

foreign rights

One fun thing about being a writer is having your books translated. I had news that The Care & Feeding of Pirates was recently sold to an Italian publisher (it was picked up by a Russian publisher earlier this year as well). What happens is, the new publisher buys the right to re-publish the story then translates and publishes it, often with a completely different cover. Pretty cool. Hopefully I'll get to see a sample copy of one of these books, I'd love it for my collection!

I am within spitting of mailing in another manuscript (yay!!). Or I will be if I start working and stop blogging! :-)

Immortals

This weekend both Joy Nash and Robin Popp sent me mss for their books in the Immortals series. I've only had the chance to read the first chapters, but wow! They've written some some powerful and sexy guys, and I love the heroines. We are in for a treat!

I hope to get an Immortals page started on my website with the covers and blurbs for each book, perhaps teasers and contests too as we go on.

I'm getting excited about this series. Yum!

But then, there's my Nvengarian series which I'm really excited about too. I'm working on Egan McDonald's story, and I had a fantastic idea for another adventure after that.

I can go a couple weeks without a single idea, then suddenly they pour into my head thick and fast before I can write them down! Need a brain dump or something.

Take care.

news

All right, all right. I'm being badgered to post. :-) Was waiting for any more news, but I'll post it when I hear it.

So the news...........................

The Just One Sip anthology made #81 on USA Today, #11 on Bookscan, and #8 on the B&N overall mass market paperback list! Is that cool or what? !!!

Endorsements

You know, many authors (including me) have endorsements on their covers from other writers. In a whimsical mood I came up with a couple that could go on the covers of my upcoming books:

"This is the best romance ever written!" says the author's mother

"I saw the galleys, and they were delightul (to sleep on)" -- Author's Cat

Both statements are real.... more or less.

no news

Blogs are for news. Or deep thoughts. I've had none since last post (neither one). Zero, zilch, zip, nada, nothing. Nothing going on here, except writing more books as usual.

My husband is being a domestic god, weeding the yard and laying flooring in the living room. And I discovered it's just as expensive to buy an area rug as it is to put wall-to-wall carpet in a room. We had to special order the area rug and can't return it, now I get to agonize for three weeks--"will those colors *really* work?" It's a big room, black, dark red, and chocolate might just be ok (wince).

Deep dilemmas.

I'll just keep writing. :-)

what a sweetie

My husband has a ritual he follows whenever one of my books comes out. A day or two after official release day, he goes to a bookstore and buys one copy. He brings it home and has me sign it to him. That's his copy, which he adds to the special shelf of my books he keeps in his office.

I tell him I could give him one of the copies I get from my publisher, but he likes to go to the store and buy it. That makes it "real."

Ain't he sweet? One reason I've stuck with him for twenty and more years! And probably a reason I write romantic romance.
