off to RT

Next week I'll be at the Romantic Times Booklovers' Convention, schmoozing with models and authors and signing books. Plan to do a workshop with Bonnie Vanak as well. I have fun at these conventions, but they wind me up and wear me out. Good thing I don't have an impending deadline.

Well, I do, but I'll have recovered (I hope) by that time.

So, my first contemporary romance will be out in June. I've updated the color scheme on my site to go with the book (www.jennifersromances.com). Why did I switch? I didn't; I'm working on more historicals. But I wanted to reach out to another segment of audience, plus Confessions of a Lingerie Addict was so much fun to write. I like stories revolving around young women learning to deal with their quirky families, and this gave me the opportunity to write such. There is plenty of romance in it, as well. Nick is a babe!

My historicals coming up have quirky families in them too. Maybe I like that because my family (both immediate and extended) is filled with such characters. I love them all.

Happy weekend,

what I've accomplished

Looking at my list from last week:

1. Revise Lacey Book 5 (not many changes there, thank heavens)
DONE!!
2. Finish hammering out proposal for Lacey book 6 with my editor
MOSTLY DONE!!
3. write historical proposal
STEADILY RESEARCHING (just got two more ordered books)
4. write romance proposal.
NOTHING
5. write Lacey book 6
OH WELL
6. write Penelope and Prince Charming (making good progress here, at least!)
AM ABOUT 1/3 THROUGH THIS MS.

Eek, no playtime for me.

Amazinging, Amazon has not only June's The Sudbury School Murders available to preorder, but also A Body in Berkley Square. Here is is. The list price is $7.99, but looks like there's a small discount. I'm always astonished that they get these books listed so quickly. I just now sent the revisions of Berkely Square to my editor! I guess they trust me to turn things in on time!

preorder Confessions of a Lingerie Addict

I just saw that readers can pre-order Confessions of a Lingerie Addict direct from Dorchester:
http://www.dorchesterpub.com/Dorch/productdetail.cfm?product_ID=1280&L1=2

And of course from all the other usual online outlets. I think bookstores like Waldens, Borders, etc. let you preorder too.

Anyway, a short post, now back to work!

blog neglect and new ideas

I've been shamefully neglecting my blog! But my work pace goes on. New things to do:

1. Revise Lacey Book 5 (not many changes there, thank heavens)
2. Finish hammering out proposal for Lacey book 6 with my editor
3. write historical proposal
4. write romance proposal.
5. write Lacey book 6
6. write Penelope and Prince Charming (making good progress here, at least!)

I've been wracking my brain for an idea for a new romance, perhaps paranormal, and I'm having an idea. It's a tendril, and it's good... I'm letting my brain flow around it. This is how I came up with Pirate Next Door and Penelope and Prince C... It just popped into my head. The feeling is the same. I'm hoping for something good here....

I love this part of writing. The exciting potential. It's like a warmth that invades your entire body. Let's see where it takes me.

great news

I heard from the editor of the Anne Boleyn project that she loved the book and it's going into editing. Wheeewwwwwwwww!!!!!!!

That's a huge load off my mind. No writing project is rejection-proof, even when you signed a contract. The editor can still say no if she doesn't like it or think it needs too much work. I'm still new enough at this to worry about it.

I'm working on so many projects at once that I need to settle down and finish something. Easier said then done. Today, for instance, I had writing burnout. Didn't want to write, didn't want to read. I finished knitting a sweater instead. It turned out ok; I might wear it to RT.

I hope to get back to work tomorrow. It's been hot here. Would rather sit on the patio and take a nap than face the computer. Ah well.
